A place to remember. A place to heal.

For children who have lost a parent, sibling or other special person through death, Camp Firefly provides a special place to share feelings, to make new friends, and to find relief from grief. Throughout the camp weekend, activities designed to help ease grief are combined with traditional fun camp experiences such as swimming, canoeing, cookouts, and arts-and-crafts. The camp is fully staffed by professional counselors and trained volunteers. See more of Camp Firefly on You Tube.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of our campers, volunteers and staff, Camp Firefly 2020 will be an online and at-home hands-on program in late August.
At the end of August each registered child will receive a free age-appropriate “Camp-in-a- Box” filled with hands-on activities and information centered on understanding their grief, preserving their cherished memories, and building positive coping skills for the future. Some examples of the activities included are a memorial lantern that the children will design and light with a safe (battery operated) candle, an inside/out box that will allow them to express their innermost feelings, and workbook activities that will help them open up to their counselor through the grieving process. The box will also contain some fun summer activities and surprises to be enjoyed and shared with family and friends. Children and their guardians will be able to access counselors online who will guide them through the grief activities and provide support during their sessions.
Moorestown Visiting Nurses & Hospice will also build a monitored, safe, online “Camp Firefly” community where children can share projects, thoughts and ideas with their peers who have experienced similar loss.
The program is free to all registered children. Please apply now. Space is limited. Call to request an application (856) 552-1300. Ask for Hospice Team

My son has been angry since the day he lost his father. At Camp Firefly he was lucky enough to have counselors that gave him a way to talk about what he's been going through, and when he talked to the other kids who lost their dads too it was a real breakthrough. It's going to take more time, but I think Camp Firefly was the turning point in helping him work through the sadness we've all been feeling. Thank you for this new beginning.

In addition to Camp Firefly, Moorestown Visiting Nurses & Hospice offers weekly grief support groups tailored to the specific needs of adults, teens and children. Please see our Support Group page for current information. Camp Firefly is fully supported by charitable contributions to Moorestown Visiting Nurse Association. A special thank you to all of our supporters in the community!
